Ridden Courses - The Format

Here at Midfield Farm, we run regular courses with International trainers or run by ourselves.  Our course are all based on the ethical training of the horse and rider.  Our trainers are respectful of the experience of others and all aim to deliver meaningful assistance in the journey to develop horsemanship and feel whether they be working with beginners or experienced riders.

Riding courses usually run over two days and include 1 ridden session of 45 minutes and three ridden sessions of 30 minutes for each rider.  Lunches are normally included in the price.  A deposit of half of the course fee is requested when booking.  If a participant cancels, this booking fee will only be returned in the event that a replacement rider can be found.

Instructors

Resident instructors are Tim and Janice Hutchinson.  Tim is  a FEIF level 1 instructor.  Janice is  UKCC Level 2 instructor and RWYM accredited Biomechanics coach.  Both Tim and Janice have represented Britain in the World Championships for Icelandic Horses on various occasions as well as having a wealth of prior experience with other breeds.

Iso Lindal Þorisson

Iso is a renowned rider and trainer of Icelandic horses who comes form a long family tradition of experienced and talented horsemen.  Iso’s uncle is currently the head of the equestrian studies at Hólar University in Iceland.  Iso trained and then worked at Hólar where he taught under graduates the horse training and handling skills that are required to fully develop the horse into an equine partner.  Iso has been coming to us since 2004 and we are privileged to be able to get him back here 2 to 3 times a year.  Iso lives and works with his family at Lækjamot Farm in the North of Iceland.
